My great grandfather was pretty famous for his chocolate sodas. He would make them after dinner with just three ingredients: vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup and soda water. Regardless of their simplicity, they obtained cult status in my family. After making them over the holidays, I have to say, I get it now. I did feel like they screamed for a little Baileys or vodka (new trend: chocolate vodka soda?), but I’m going to leave those adjustments up to you.
Chocolate Sodas
1 pint vanilla ice cream
Chocolate syrup
Soda water (I made my own from my Soda Stream)
Place one scoop of ice cream in each glass. Drizzle a couple tablespoons over the ice cream, then fill the glass half way full with soda water. Mix until it’s creamy. Then another scoop of ice cream, more syrup and more soda.
Enjoy with your family watching an old movie.

Yum! I love chocolate ice cream soda! And this is so pure ‘n natural! I am going to have my Nanna make me one tomorrow!
This looks delicious – thanks for sharing!
That is not good for the diet, but I’ll sacrifice myself and try it. This is such a painful sacrifice.
