Part of the allure may have to do with I.M. Pei, the museum’s architect. He designed the East Building of the National Gallery of Art in Washington and the Louvre pyramid in Paris. Whatever the reason, as I drove from the airport en route to my hotel in Doha I couldn’t keep my eyes off of the Museum of Islamic Art. It sits atop a man-made island, and the angles of the stones are meant to reflect the sun’s light. It is magnificent; kind of like my 3,000 sq ft hotel room.
