Road trip to Big Sur

big sur 8

Big Sur is one of my most favorite places. It emanates a mystical air, other worldly actually. My dad and I drove down from San Francisco along Highway 1 last week, stopped at the famous Big Sur Bakery for cappuccinos and chocolate strudel and pulled over innumerable times to take in the breathtaking view. We arrived in Santa Barbara just after sunset for an Italian dinner with my perfectly blond and bronzed cousins.

If you find yourself between L.A. and S.F., make sure to take a tour at Hearst Castle, pull over at the elephant seal lookout point, have a glass of wine next to the fire at Nepenthe, and eat a cozy and romantic dinner at Deetjen’s

  1. Gorgeous photos Laney. How beautiful Big Sur and the coast is. I really hope I’ll be able to drive the same route one day, but it’s a long way from the UK! – all wind and rain here right now…. I love your blog and look forward to your posts – thanks!

  2. I agree with Jessy. Fantistic picture’s. I would love to be in California now, b/c OMG, the temp in NY is so cold!
