Simple dinner party how-to

d

Thursday my boyfriend and I decided to have some people over to his apartment for dinner. It didn’t leave a lot of time to prepare, so I had to keep things simple. I made single flower arrangements using this trick and picked really easy recipes. Saturday morning I made the cookies and prepared the berry crumble so dessert was completely out of the way (all I had to do was pop the pie dish in the oven). For appetizers I served cheeses and meats, ricotta drizzled with honey and red pepper chili flakes, lots of crackers and toasts, and a pea hummus I made by throwing peas, chickpeas, italian parsley, yogurt and lemon juice in my Vitamix. Dinner was a simple salad, a premade pasta side dish from Dean and Deluca and seared scallops. We asked the guests to bring their favorite cocktail and the meal was complete.

  1. So much cooking and no mess? How did you do it? 🙂

Mine looks like a landfill every time I cook. And I do it almost every day so you can imagine my frustration..

  2. Everything looked great! I love having dinner parties but never really thought to have my guests bring their favorite cocktail, unless the guys bringing their own beer counts?
