Road trip to Big Sur

Big Sur is one of my most favorite places. It emanates a mystical air, other worldly actually. My dad and I drove down from San Francisco along Highway 1 last week, stopped at the famous Big Sur Bakery for cappuccinos and chocolate strudel and pulled over innumerable times to take in the breathtaking view. We arrived in Santa Barbara just after sunset for an Italian dinner with my perfectly blond and bronzed cousins.

If you find yourself between L.A. and S.F., make sure to take a tour at Hearst Castle, pull over at the elephant seal lookout point, have a glass of wine next to the fire at Nepenthe, and eat a cozy and romantic dinner at Deetjen’s

♫♪ Dirty Gold — California Sunrise

This past week at home has been nothing short of a perfect combination of cozy, fun and beautiful. One of the precious things about being here is that nature abounds. You don’t have to go anywhere, it’s just sitting there, waiting for you to enjoy it. On our way to dinner  on Tuesday we stopped to walk to the beach. And that was all it was, just a little stop on the way to watch the sunset. You can’t help but feel so very, unbelievably lucky when surrounded by all this.

Photos taken in Point Reyes.
